Both routes load exactly the same site. The difference is the frame around it, and it is worth understanding before you decide you need one.
Opening the site in Safari or Chrome gives you everything: the whole library, the cashier, limits and document uploads. Saving it to the home screen adds an icon, a full-screen window without the address bar, and a session that survives switching between apps more reliably. Nothing is downloaded to storage beyond the browser cache, so the shortcut costs almost no space and updates itself the moment the site does.
What a shortcut cannot add is anything the operating system reserves for installed applications. There are no push notifications, no biometric unlock tied to the app, and no entry in your device's app list.
